Workshops and Bear Making Classes
Adorable bears in addition to designing and making classical bears for either wholesale or retail also extends the benefits of many years of experience in the clothing and also the bear world to those who wish to avail themselves of that experience by running teddy bear classes and workshops. This gives the opportunity to learn how to make an artist designed, fully jointed, mohair teddy bear. The workshops are designed to suit those with no previous bear making experience through to the advanced student. A new bear is designed for most workshops to give variety and also to cater for the different skill levels.
TWO DAY CLASSES
I generally have two day workshops which takes the participants through all aspects of making a mohair bear including cutting the mohair, assembling, jointing, affixing and finishing eyes, nose and mouth to final finishing such as needle sculpturing. The two day class is run with a week ,or two , between days to give the students a chance to work on their bear at home. I am still only a phone call away and readily available in that time to give assistance and instruction.

These are both two day Workshops , both on a Sunday with a weeks between the class.
I will be offering two new bears for these worshops. One bear will be a Panda as so many have requested a Panda class.I will show you how to inset the eye patch or if you don't feel your hand stitching is up to this you may like to shade a patch with fabric pens.
For the other bear I can only tell you that it will suit the beginner or advanced bear maker and will be made in one of the latest 'String' mohairs. ( As soon as I have a sample bear to show I will try to put photos on my website and send out newsletters)

,ONE DAY CLASSES
For those on a shorter time agenda I also run a one day class with some pre-stitching of the bear components already having been done by myself, with the cutting out of the bear demonstrated.
All classes are full of useful hints acquired over several years of dress making and design plus my years as a bear artist. I also attend specialist workshops from time to time and also pick up useful ideas from attending bear shows and discussing techniques with other bear artists. Even experienced bear artists can never stop learning.
CLASS MATERIALS
The classes are designed so that all you need to bring is yourself (plus your favorite pair of scissors etc - if you have them). Otherwise all will be provided - the bear kit which includes all components and even a delicious light lunch supplied by one of Sheppartons many restaurants, morning and afternoon tea and refreshments. The cost is all inclusive and there is no need to even bring your sewing machine. Classes are usually limited to a maximum of eight.
COST
The cost will vary according to the bear being made,and the materials involved. I only use quality fur, either mohair or alpaca.I sometimes use a limited edition colour or style of mohair. I have not been disapointed with student's results and I still believe if you want to do it well you must start with quality fabrics.
Irrespective each student gets my personal attention and assistance throughout. They are great fun, very informative, you meet a wide variety of people and the objective is the same for all - to make an 'Adorable Bear' to be proud of and love.
I do travel to other centers to conduct classes and will do so if a group wishes to utilize my experience and expertise for a bear-making class.
